Conversation Starters

March 15, 2008

I keep saying I am going to blog thinking I have something important to talk about like the presidential race and the fact that I saw Obama, Huckabee and Clinton all speak before the March 4 Texas Primary. (Going to see them personally clinched my vote BIG TIME for Obama — hands down!) But then I let it go too long and then it just seems like too much time as passed for a blog to be relevant anymore….. So I just don’t do it…..

Well, I have this “game” called Table Topics with a bunch of cards in a box and I thought I would pick one and start talking about that until I make blogging an actual habit or close to it anyway. So here we go.

Ah, a good one chosen at random: “Where would you choose to live if you had to leave this country?”

Hmmmmm — do they mean Texas or America?? tee hee!!! (those outside Texas should know that we still think of Texas as its own country!)

Of the places I have been — Mexico, France, Italy, England, Austria and Switzerland — I would probably say France or Switzerland. I spent a summer in each country (France in 1986 and Switzerland in 1989), and I loved them both dearly. Unfortunately, not being able to speak French would make me a little apprehensive to live full time in either country before I learned French well.

I know I haven’t ever been to Canada, but I should really think I would like to live there just from what I saw on the film “Bowling for Columbine” about Canada’s news and crime statistics. I am so fortunate not to have ever been a victim of a direct crime upon my person or home (my car? definitely! My radio was stolen out of my Toyota Tercel 3 times!)

Where would you go if you HAD to??

I hope people (more than Mark and I) watched this ultra-clever new show tonight. It came on after “Cavemen,” which, yes, I was looking forward to (I just LOVE those Geico commercials). But while “Cavemen” fell short, I just left it on to see what “Carpoolers” was all about. And it had me at the sing-a-long of “I’m All Out of Love….” WHY do we ALL know ALL the words to bad songs by Air Supply?? But we do. Go ahead…. admit it. You do to.”Carpoolers” had so many laughs in it even the 2nd time around…. Well, I recorded it for Mark and had to watch it again with my husband, now didn’t I!?! All of the characters are very well defined almost immediately. My favorite was Aubrey (Jerry Minor); he was so low-key and even and hysterical. And Mark said: “I have a feeling that will be me in a couple of years.”I just hope that the people who make decisions about what to keep and what to let go DEFINITELY keep this one!Check out the website: or

And aaaawwwaaayyyy we go!

September 30, 2007

I am so excited about my new blog. This will not only reflect what I am working on in my business, but you will also get to know me and the rest of my life here as well.

Just let me start out by saying that Mark and I will be celebrating our 1st anniversary on October 22!! This has been quite a year for us as newlyweds — miscarriage, blood transfusions, softball-sized tumor removed (Thank God; it was benign!!), bi-weekly Iron IVs (and that was just me!) and a 2 1/2 month lay-off (that one was Mark). But through it all we have remained strong, generous, caring, playful, loving, humorous, and sane. God sure did know what he was doing when he put our lives together. And I am so looking forward to the rest of it with Mark and, indeed, with all my friends and family.

So have a great night! I will be back with you as soon as I figure more of this out.
